Fireworks from the Bridge

One of the Old Railroad Bridge Co., Inc.’s fun raisers is the annual 4th of July fireworks on the Tennessee River.  The fireworks are launched from a barge that is towed out into the middle of the Tennessee River in front of McFarland Park.  The Old Railroad Bridge is known as the “Best Seats in the House” for viewing the fireworks show and hundreds of people make their way onto the bridge each year.

The fireworks display usual starts around 9:00 pm CDST and last about 20 – 25 minutes and always is a great show.  The Old Railroad Bridge is nearly 1600 feet long and offers a unique viewing platform for the fireworks show.

Another great feature of view the fireworks from the Old Railroad Bridge is that you’re actually over the water and normally a good breeze is blowing to keep everyone cool.

The Board of Directors for the Old Railroad Bridge setup and sell refreshments for the crowd, as well as memorabilia articles related to the bridge.  We also charge a nominal admission fee to access the bridge during the fireworks and all funds go toward the upkeep of the bridge.  Additionally, out of the funds collected the ORBC, Inc. paid for two port-a-toilets for attendees.
