Old Railroad Bridge Lighting Project

Florence, Alabama – After a recent incident on the bridge,  the fact that the bridge does not presently have any lighting whatsoever for the entire length has been mention by several area residents and in the local media.  In the past, there were a couple of security lights installed at the lower entrance to the bridge, but vandals and copper thieves managed to destroy the system.

Many people were surprised to find out that the bridge was in darkness and called for the bridge to have some kind of lighting to be installed.  As the owners and custodians of The Old Railroad Bridge and since we are a non-profit 501(3)(c) corporation, funding for the lighting project will be raised through generous donations of time, materials and money by the local community and businesses.

Plans are underway to raise the necessary funding and already local businesses have volunteered to help out with the estimated $30,000.00 that it would cost to complete the project.  One of the business, Granett Electrical Contractors have agreed to furnish the labor for the project which is estimated to be 50% of the total project cost.  To complete the project we need other businesses to donate needed materials such as electrical cable, conduit, junction boxes, low voltage LED fixtures and other related items.  Additionally, cash donations are being requested from anyone that is interested in helping with the project.

So please consider making a donation today, click the Paypal Button and make a difference.  All donors will receive a donation statement for tax purposes.
